Overall Favorite: Vodka

Soak contents of jar in vodka for up to 24 hours, mix infused vodka with sparkling water, seltzer or ginger beer. Enjoy on the rocks.

Alcoholic Mixes:

Here are some excellent alcoholic spirits that pair beautifully with lemon, ginger, and hibiscus — all of which bring out brightness, spice, floral notes, or balance the tart and earthy flavors:

Gin – Hibiscus-ginger gin fizz or a floral gin sour. Herbal and citrus-forward, gin’s botanicals harmonize perfectly with lemon and hibiscus, while lighter gins let ginger spice shine.

Tequila (Blanco or Reposado) – Hibiscus margarita with ginger-lemon kick. The earthy agave and slight herbal notes pair deliciously with floral hibiscus and spicy ginger.

Rum (Light or Aged) – Hibiscus rum punch with citrus and ginger beer. Light rum adds sweetness and brightness; aged rum brings warm, caramel depth that complements spiced ginger.

Mezcal – Smoky hibiscus-lemon mezcal cooler with ginger. Smoky notes add complexity and contrast the bright citrus and floral elements.

Non-Alcoholic Mixes:

Non-alcoholic mixers that pair perfectly with lemon, ginger, and hibiscus, whether you’re making a mocktail, a spirit-free base, or offering NA options alongside cocktails:

Yuzu soda or citrus tonic –

Adds a sharper, more complex citrus note.

Rose or elderflower tonic (lightly sweetened) –

Hibiscus already has a naturally floral, slightly tart profile. Rose and elderflower echo those floral qualities, making the drink feel more layered and aromatic without overpowering it.

Mint tea or muddled fresh mint –

Mint tea or muddled fresh mint brings a cooling, refreshing contrast that beautifully balances the bright and bold flavors of lemon, ginger, and hibiscus. Mint naturally softens ginger’s heat while enhancing lemon’s crispness, creating a smoother, more refreshing sip.

Craft or Dry Ginger Ale –

Craft or dry ginger ale adds a gentle spice and subtle sweetness that perfectly complements bold flavors like lemon and hibiscus. Its light ginger heat enhances the warmth of fresh ginger without overwhelming the drink, while carbonation keeps everything crisp and refreshing.
